CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cresselia spreads the arc of its tail when the first crescent moon appears. Its wings leave shining particles behind, and its image has long been connected with the moon. The Pokédex reports that someone sleeping with one of its feathers is said to have pleasant dreams. This reputation has earned it the nickname “embodiment of the crescent moon”. The entries thus combine an observable luminous appearance with a belief about sleep.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Black describes Cresselia’s tail opening on nights when the first crescent appears. Pokémon Y reports the story of pleasant dreams brought by a feather. Its connection with the crescent therefore concerns both its silhouette and the belief surrounding it.
