The Pokémon’s story

Cinderace turns stones into flaming balls by repeatedly dribbling them. It then sends them towards opponents to burn them. Its qualities are not limited to attack: the Pokédex also describes it as exceptional in defence. Cheering spurs it on, but its enthusiasm can work against it when it chooses to act alone. This combination of technique, energy and recklessness makes its battles resemble a match in which coordination matters as much as shooting.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield highlights a paradox in Cinderace: although excellent at attacking and defending, it can still endanger itself by playing alone. Cheering drives it to surpass itself, but its mastery of the fireball is therefore not always enough to protect it.
