CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Misdreavus hides during the day and emerges at night to surprise humans. It imitates sobbing or gives a lament in an empty room, hoping to provoke the fear it feeds on. The red spheres it wears absorb these emotions, according to the Pokédex. It even practises perfecting its tricks and is dismayed by those who cannot be intimidated. Its appearances are as much unsettling pranks as a search for vital energy.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun states that bringing an ear close to Misdreavus’s red spheres allows moaning to be heard. Pokémon Moon sometimes attributes crying in an empty room to its pranks. Sound therefore forms part of its methods, even in the ornaments around its neck.
