It does not establish ancestry or date Slither Wing's appearance in the past.

A detail worth noticing

The ancient Volcarona form cited in connection with Slither Wing comes from a magazine Violet calls dubious. The entry retains only a partial resemblance. Scarlet, for its part, refers to a creature described in an old book.
