The Pokémon’s story

Okidogi changed when the toxic chain around its neck stimulated every muscle. Its body gained impressive strength, but its character remains that of a short-tempered brawler. In battle, it swings that same chain to strike with force capable of smashing whatever it hits to pieces. The Pokédex thus connects its transformed appearance and attacking method with a single object. The chain is more than ornament: it acted on its body and still serves as a weapon.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet attributes Okidogi's build to muscular stimulation by the poisonous chain. Pokémon Violet calls it a quick-tempered brawler and explains that it uses this chain to pulverize whatever it strikes.
