CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Carvanha’s behaviour changes depending on whether it swims alone or with its own kind. Isolated, it is cautious; in a school, it follows the scent of blood and attacks without hesitation. Its sharp-toothed jaws can damage boats, leading sailors to avoid the waters it inhabits. It also competes with Basculin for small fish. Carvanha’s strength therefore comes as much from its teeth as from the courage the group gives it.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun says that a group of five Carvanha is enough to make this Pokémon much fiercer than a lone individual. Pokémon Shield reports that sailors avoid their waters. This change in behaviour with numbers alters the risk for anyone encountering a school.
