CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

When a powerful opponent appears, Charmeleon’s aggression grows and the flame at the tip of its tail may turn pale blue. It uses that tail to knock the enemy down before employing its claws. In its mountain den, the flame remains visible at night as a point of light. The Pokédex describes a Pokémon whose fervour can be read in the fire it carries, but whose attacks also depend on physical strength.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! states that Charmeleon may breathe bluish flames when a duel excites it. Pokémon Shield warns that when it loses its temper, it burns everything around it. The colour and size of its flames therefore reflect its state during battle.
