CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Heatmor draws air through the tip of its tail to feed the fire inside its body. It then projects a tongue of flame hot enough to melt the armour of Durant, its favourite prey. Blocking this air intake makes it uncomfortable. The Pokédex therefore describes a predator whose hunting depends on a precise circuit, from air drawn in at the rear to the flame that opens its victim’s armour.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword warns that Heatmor feels unwell if the tip of its tail is blocked. Pokémon White explains that its fiery tongue melts Durant’s steel. An organ that seems secondary is therefore essential to its feeding.
