CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Tyrunt was brought back to life from a fossil. It lived about a hundred million years ago, and its jaws can crush a car, according to the Pokédex. Yet power does not come with calmness: a setback may send it into a violent rage. Even when it simply wants to play, it can seriously injure its partner. Some entries also leave its original appearance open to question, because fossil restoration may not recover every trait.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun mentions a theory that restored Tyrunt differs from its ancient form. This is not a confirmed difference. Pokémon Y dates the species to about a hundred million years ago and compares its jaw strength with that needed to crush a car.
