The Pokémon’s story

Pidgey seeks forests and usually avoids confrontations. If it feels threatened, it beats its wings close to the ground to raise sand and hinder its opponent before escaping. Yet its gentleness does not mean it cannot defend itself when attacked. Even far from home in unfamiliar surroundings, its sense of direction lets it find its nest again. The Pokédex thus combines caution, rapid defense and a remarkable memory for routes.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby emphasizes that Pidgey finds its nest from unfamiliar surroundings. Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu shows it preferring a cloud of sand to a counterattack. It can therefore return from far away while avoiding unnecessary exposure to danger.
