CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

According to the stories, Dusknoir receives waves from the spirit world. These are said to drive it to guide humans and Pokémon into the afterlife, though whether it acts of its own free will is unknown. Its body can close around a lost spirit to return it where it belongs. Other entries describe a much more disturbing attack through its belly mouth. The Pokédex thus places a guide's role alongside that of a predator whose intentions remain obscure.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword acknowledges that whether Dusknoir has a will of its own is unknown. Pokémon Black credits it with returning lost spirits to their world. This uncertainty prevents its actions from being reduced to either a chosen mission or simple instinct.
