CARDEX BACKGROUND

The story behind this Trainer card

Dragon Talon triggers when the Dragon Pokémon holding it is your Active Pokémon and takes damage from an opponent's attack. It places three damage counters on the attacking Pokémon, even if the holder is Knocked Out. This is a conditional retaliation distinct from damage that the holder's own attacks might deal.

Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

Simply being attacked does not replace the requirement to take damage. The retaliation places damage counters on the attacker, and its text preserves that effect even when the incoming damage Knocks Out the holder.
