The Pokémon’s story

Mew exists on the boundary between observation and mystery. So few people have seen it that some experts still regard it as an uncertain apparition. Its ability to become invisible helps it remain elusive. Even when it approaches humans, it can escape their notice, leaving more questions than traces of its quiet, hard-to-confirm presence.

A detail worth noticing

Mew's body is not hairless. Pokémon Yellow and, later, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! describe short, very fine hairs that can be seen under a microscope. Its smooth appearance to the naked eye therefore conceals a real texture in the account.
