CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Klinklang spins its gears to charge a red core with energy. It can then release this reserve through the spikes on its outer structure as powerful discharges. The new spiked gear is not independently alive; the others set it in motion. The Pokédex thus distinguishes the core storing energy from the spikes releasing it, and the active gears from the component they drive.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield notes that Klinklang's outer gear has no life of its own. Pokémon Sword describes energy stored in its red core and then sent through the spikes. This detail distinguishes the active organ from the component it drives.
