CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cosmoem stays almost motionless inside a remarkably resistant shell. Its black core accumulates energy while it absorbs starlight and airborne dust in preparation for evolution. Long ago, a king of Alola called it the cocoon of the stars and had an altar built in its honor. One entry even suggests that it may come from another world, without presenting this origin as certain. Beneath an inert appearance, Cosmoem therefore continues growing in a way that is barely visible.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun attributes the name cocoon of the stars to an ancient king of Alola. Pokémon Sword describes a shell harder than any known material and growth nourished by starlight. Pokémon Shield adds the absorption of dust before evolution.
