CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Carbink carries gemstones embedded in its body. Individuals polish one another's stones to keep them from becoming dull. If an enemy attacks, they can focus an energy beam through these gems. Legends speak of an underground kingdom where their queen lives; the Pokédex presents this place as a story rather than a discovery. Its sparkle attracts humans even though the species is not particularly rare.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon describes Carbink polishing one another's gems with their whiskers. Pokémon Sword credits these same stones with producing a defensive laser. Collective maintenance of their shine thus concerns an organ useful during an attack.
