CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Frigibax uses its dorsal fin to absorb heat and turn it into ice energy. The higher the temperature, the more it can store, a surprising process for a Pokémon associated with cold. It lives in forests and rocky areas, where this same fin cools the inside of its nest. The Pokédex thus compares it to a small natural refrigerator. Its shelter stays cool thanks to heat captured outside, while its body retains the energy from that conversion.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet emphasizes Frigibax's paradox: strong heat increases its reserve of ice energy. Pokémon Violet specifies the domestic use of this ability, with its fin cooling the inside of a nest in a forest or among rocks.
