CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

The light at the end of Ampharos’s tail reaches a great distance. In the past, people used it to exchange long-distance signals, well before more recent means were available. The Pokédex states that its glow can even be seen from space. With such a reach, Ampharos sometimes switches its light off to avoid being spotted. Its tail thus changes from a beacon into a secret it chooses to hide.

A detail worth noticing

According to Ultra Moon, sailors have revered Ampharos as a guide since ancient times. Its glowing tail therefore did more than carry messages between people on land. It could also help those at sea find a landmark in the darkness.
