CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Magnemite seeks places rich in electricity and may gather with others near power pylons. It floats by releasing electromagnetic waves through the magnets on its body. This energy feeds it, but its appetite also causes problems for human infrastructure: some power plants try to keep it away. In its wake, the boundary between a useful resource and a power failure becomes fragile. Touching it while it recharges may even cause an electric shock.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

A Magnemite deprived of electricity can fall to the ground. Pokémon Sword adds that a battery is enough to revive it. This detail makes its levitation's dependence on energy visible: when the charge disappears, it stops floating, then regains its movement when it receives electricity again.

Description from the source

These Pokémon are attracted to electrical emissions and will often follow people using PokéGear.

Attacks

Lock-on

Cost: Colorless

During your next turn, treat any tails flipped when using Magnemite's Electric Bolt attack on the Defending Pokémon as if they were heads. (Benching or evolving either Pokémon ends this effect.)

Electric Bolt

Cost: Lightning · Colorless

Damage: 50

Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. If either of them is tails, this attack does nothing (not even damage).
