CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Chi-Yu is said to have been born from envy accumulated around curved beads that sparked several conflicts. This emotion supposedly clothed itself in flames to become a Pokémon. The fire it controls is intense enough to melt rock and sand, creating a lava sea in which it swims effortlessly. The Pokédex therefore distinguishes an origin story fed by old grudges from a concrete power of heat. Wherever Chi-Yu moves, solid landscapes can turn to lava.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet credits Chi-Yu's flames with temperatures over 5,400°F, about 3,000°C, and connects them to the lava it produces. Pokémon Violet presents the curved beads and the conflicts they caused as the starting point of its birth.
