CARDEX BACKGROUND
The role of this Energy
Double Colorless Energy provides two units of Colorless Energy to the Pokémon it is attached to. A single card can thus pay two Colorless symbols in an attack's cost. This acceleration does not create a second attached card: it comes from this Special Energy's text. Depending on the edition, the printed wording varies in length, but its central role remains providing two Colorless units. The entry preserves each printing's edition and language so that this rule is not confused with a Basic Energy.
Background on this Special Energy’s effect; the printed text, edition and finish of each card remain distinct.A detail worth noticing
An old printing explicitly states that Double Colorless Energy does not count as a Basic Energy card. Reprints express the same supply of two Colorless units in far fewer words. The number of units provided therefore does not match the number of attached cards.
