CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Venonat lives in the shade of tall trees, where it seeks small insects. At night, light draws it from shelter. Its large eyes consist of a multitude of smaller facets capable of spotting tiny prey; their structure can be distinguished in bright light. A coat of fine hair also protects its body. The Pokédex describes a discreet hunter whose eyes almost seem to work like radar beneath the leaves.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Black notes that Venonat's large eyes are clusters of very small eyes. Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu invites observers to see their facets in bright light. This detail explains how it finds tiny prey in the shade of trees.
