CARDEX BACKGROUND
The leaves around Bayleef's neck are more than ornaments. Each houses a small tree shoot. A spicy scent comes from this collar and can restore energy to those who breathe it in. The Pokédex also connects this smell with Bayleef's own recovery. Its presence may therefore be noticed before its silhouette is visible: the aroma from its neck announces a Pokémon whose leaves and buds have a stimulating effect.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Alpha Sapphire places a tree shoot inside every leaf around Bayleef's neck. Pokémon X describes the resulting aroma as stimulating to Bayleef itself; Pokémon Y specifies that this spicy smell also invigorates nearby people.
