CARDEX BACKGROUND
Forretress remains attached to its tree, enclosed in a thick steel shell. Its eyes stay visible while the rest of its body evades sight. It briefly opens its armour to swallow prey, too quickly for anyone to observe the inside. If something approaches too closely, it reflexively launches pieces of shell. This poorly controlled behaviour turns its hiding place into a dangerous area, even when it appears simply motionless.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun describes Forretress’s launch of steel fragments as a reflex it cannot control. Pokémon Ultra Moon emphasises that nobody has managed to see inside its shell while it eats. Its covering is both a defence and an anatomical enigma.
