CARDEX BACKGROUND
Excadrill pierces the earth with its steel drills. It creates very deep tunnel networks, sometimes close enough to human infrastructure to reach a subway tunnel. Humans also use its abilities to dig passages. Some caverns it leaves behind resemble natural formations so closely that they can be mistaken for them. The Pokédex describes a burrower capable of moving very quickly underground: its passage transforms the subsurface before the Pokémon is even seen.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Shield gives Excadrill a digging speed of up to 150 km/h. Pokémon Sword explains that its caverns are sometimes mistaken for natural caves. Its underground work can therefore remain visible long after its maker has disappeared.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
More than 300 feet below the surface, they build mazelike nests. Their activity can be destructive to subway tunnels.Ancient Trait
