CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Appletun appeared after an Applin ate a sweet apple. Its body gives off a nectar scent that attracts the Bug-type Pokémon it feeds on. The sweetness extends beyond the smell: its skin, especially on its back, is covered in nectar. The Pokédex even recounts that children used to taste it. Behind an unthreatening appearance, Appletun therefore uses the appeal of this sugar to draw prey closer, while its own body can seem appetizing to others.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword connects Appletun's evolution with a sweet apple and specifies that its fragrance attracts Bug-type Pokémon. Pokémon Shield adds a more unusual fact: the especially sweet skin on its back was once eaten by children.
