CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Pelipper skims the sea with its large bill open to collect water and fish. It brings food back to the nest and can also carry small Pokémon or Eggs to safety. Some accounts leave the destination of its other passengers unknown. The Pokédex thus gives it several roles in coastal skies: fisher, provider for the group and transporter. Its pouch does more than swallow what it finds in flight.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon says Pelipper can swallow up to thirty Wishiwashi at once. Pokémon Sword describes its bill as a safe means of transport for Eggs and small Pokémon. The same pouch therefore serves both fishing and protection of the vulnerable.
