CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Wiglett resembles Diglett, but the Pokédex classifies it as a distinct species. This similarity is said to have arisen because both adapted to comparable environments. Wiglett can detect a Veluza's scent from around twenty meters away and immediately hide in the sand. Its visual resemblance therefore does not tell its whole story. Its sense of smell and quick escape mainly reveal how it avoids danger in its own environment.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Violet presents Wiglett's resemblance to Diglett as convergence linked to the environment, rather than belonging to the same species. Pokémon Scarlet notes that it detects Veluza from a little over 65 feet away, or about 20 meters.
