CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Melmetal is said to have been revered in the past for its ability to produce iron. Accounts say it reappeared after three thousand years. Its strength shows in punches delivered with the heavy nuts of its arms, which the Pokédex presents as particularly destructive. At the end of its life, its body rusts and breaks apart; the remaining fragments can be reborn as Meltan. Its story connects metal, disappearance and return.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword explains that pieces of Melmetal’s rusted body can become Meltan. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! reports that it was once revered for producing iron. Its relationship with metal thus marks both its beginning and its end.
