CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Absol has long suffered from confusion between announcing a disaster and causing it. Because its appearance sometimes precedes catastrophe, humans have held it responsible. Yet the Pokédex mainly describes its ability to perceive signs of danger. The mountain-dwelling loner thus bears a reputation that turns its talent for anticipation into a reason for fear among those who encounter it.

Absol’s curved horn contributes to this perception. Pokémon Sword describes it as extremely sensitive to signs heralding natural disasters. Its remarkable shape is therefore more than a feature of its silhouette: it is linked to its role as a sentinel.
