The Pokémon’s story

Arctovish catches prey by freezing its surroundings, but its mouth's position on top of its head makes eating difficult afterward. The Pokédex also describes facial skin that attacks could not penetrate. Yet this resistance supposedly did not save the species: breathing difficulties are given as the explanation for its extinction. The portrait thus combines great defensive and capturing abilities with very practical obstacles to eating and breathing.

A detail worth noticing

Sword describes Arctovish's paradox: it can immobilize prey by freezing, then struggles to eat it because of its mouth's position. Shield attributes its disappearance to its difficulty breathing.
