CARDEX BACKGROUND
Kabuto is known from fossils that made its restoration possible. Underwater, it hides and watches its surroundings with the eyes on its back. Its shell strengthens when it molts, an event the Pokédex places every three days. The entries do not unanimously present it as entirely extinct: one mentions encounters in a particular area. Between fossil discoveries and reported observations, its history remains tied to the search for an ancient species.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Sword describes Kabuto molting every three days, hardening its shell. Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee! specifies the position of its dorsal eyes while it hides underwater. Pokémon Shield notes that encounters may be possible despite its reputation as an extinct species.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
