CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Staryu lives in groups on the seabed. At nightfall, its red central organ flashes; in late summer, its signals sometimes light up beaches. It can regrow a lost arm as long as this core remains intact, even after a predator’s attack. Some entries interpret its flashes as exchanges with the stars, while a legend has it born from celestial dust. Its regenerating body thus combines a fact of its marine life with stories from the sky.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Moon names Lumineon among the predators that bite Staryu’s arms. As long as its red centre remains intact, it can regenerate them. Pokémon Sword also describes groups flashing at a regular rhythm on the shore in late summer.
