CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Inkay flashes the luminous spots on its body. These signals let it communicate with its own kind, but also serve against an enemy: the light disrupts their will to fight and gives the Pokémon time to hide. It can attract prey with the same flashes before wrapping it in its tentacles. The Pokédex therefore presents a light with several uses, acting as a message, distraction or trap depending on who watches it.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Ultra Moon states that Inkay changes the frequency of its flashes to exchange information with its own kind. Pokémon Shield describes the same glow weakening an opponent’s fighting spirit, giving it time to escape.
