CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Litwick resembles a little candle whose flame attracts the attention of lost travellers. It may take their hand and appear to guide them, but Pokédex accounts give this gesture an unsettling outcome: it leads them towards the spirit world while its flame consumes their life energy. The gentle warmth of its body contrasts with the eerie glow that grows as it feeds. Its familiar appearance thus conceals a supernatural trap.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield establishes a troubling connection between the age of Litwick’s victims and its flame: it is said to grow larger when it draws energy from very young people. The Pokédex presents this glow as the visible sign of a phenomenon normally impossible to observe.
