Baseus EnerCore CJ21: two retractable cables, useful convenience or gimmick?

You find the charger, then start looking for the cable. Sometimes you need a second one for your phone. The Baseus EnerCore CJ21 puts them together in a single unit. We like this practical idea: making short trips and packing easier, rather than collecting watts on a specification sheet.

The LODEX opinion

Yes, we find the CJ21 interesting if you regularly charge two USB-C devices close to a power socket. Its two retractable cables address a real inconvenience: keeping what you need at hand, then packing it quickly. It is a convenience you can appreciate each time you use it.

We would choose it for that specific purpose. For a fixed device with a cable already neatly installed, an ordinary charger remains a sensible option. And before replacing the power supply of a large gaming laptop, check its electrical requirements.

The strongest argument: stop hunting for the second cable

The CJ21 combines two retractable USB-C cables and an additional USB-C output. Baseus specifies a maximum total power of 67 W. The appeal is immediately understandable: two devices can connect through the integrated cables, while a third uses its own cable.

We see the greatest value for people who move between a desk, another room and trips away. Taking one unit out of a bag avoids rebuilding a little charging kit each time. This is not a technical revolution; it removes a repetitive task. To us, that is a better reason to buy than higher power you never use.

Feedback supports the idea, not a durability promise

In its CJ21 review, HTmag highlights cable storage and everyday use. An individual travel account on Reddit also describes the benefit of sharing a socket without carrying several separate setups. These accounts agree on convenience; their number does not establish general reliability over several years.

The compromise lies in the integrated cables themselves. With an ordinary charger, a damaged cable can be replaced separately. Here, a failed mechanism or built-in cable is more inconvenient. Our view remains positive if you genuinely want easier packing, but we would not call it the better choice for someone who prioritises separate, replaceable parts.

67 W in total: what changes with several devices

67 W does not mean 67 W for each of three devices. Available power is shared when several outputs are used. The result also depends on what the phone, laptop or accessory accepts. A USB-C-compatible device does not automatically use the charger’s full output.

For a laptop, compare your model’s power requirements with the simultaneous use you have in mind. A lightweight laptop and phone present a different question from a gaming machine under load. We promise neither a universal charging time nor a replacement for every power supply. The CJ21 should simplify your setup without reducing a capability you need.

Placement matters as much as the charger

Before ordering, picture the socket you will use. Integrated cables are convenient when devices are nearby; a distant socket, one behind furniture or under a large desk may make a separate cable more comfortable. Also consider the space around the socket: a unit containing two retractors serves a different purpose from a tiny phone adapter.

We would select the European-plug version for use in France. The illustrated model is the CJ21 with two cables; do not confuse it with the single-cable CJ11 or a power bank from the same range. Choosing the correct model matters more than saving a little on a variant that does not fit your plans.

Our verdict

The Baseus CJ21 is a convenience purchase we would happily recommend to someone tired of finding and packing cables. Its appeal is not charging every device at full power simultaneously, but making a small routine easier. If your devices stay near a socket and their requirements fit its output, this offer deserves a look.
