Before downloading the save

• Use a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2.
• Sign in with the same Nintendo Account used for the cloud save.
• Check that your Nintendo Switch Online membership is available.
• Confirm that the software supports Save Data Cloud. Not all software does.

Important: downloading replaces the save data already on the console for that software. The replaced local data cannot be recovered through this operation. If a local save exists, compare the local and cloud timestamps where shown, then confirm that you want to replace local progress before continuing.

Method 1: download the save from the software menu

1. From the HOME menu, open the options menu for the relevant software.
2. Select Save Data Cloud.
3. Choose the relevant user.
4. Select Download Save Data.

Downloading from the cloud replaces the corresponding local save for that software. If the operation fails or shows an error, consult Nintendo’s cloud backup and download troubleshooting before trying again.

Method 2: download the save from settings

1. Open HOME > System Settings.
2. Select Data Management.
3. Open Save Data Cloud.
4. Select the relevant user, then the save file.
5. Select Download Save Data.

The selected file downloads from the cloud and replaces that software’s local save data. If the operation fails or displays an error, consult Nintendo’s cloud backup and download troubleshooting before trying again.

Automatic downloads in sleep mode

A save can also download automatically when the corresponding option is enabled and the console is in sleep mode. Newer cloud data then replaces the relevant local data.

If the cloud option is missing

• Check that you are using the same Nintendo Account associated with the cloud save.
• Check that the Nintendo Switch Online membership is available.
• Check that the software supports Save Data Cloud.

Save Data Cloud does not support all software. Compatibility can change: consult Nintendo’s current information for the title concerned.
